Here We Are and Vacation update

Its been a long time since my last blog entry. My new computer wouldn't allow me to open blogger to update. However, I did my own problem solving and figured in out. . . finally. I have a lot of catching up to do, but I will start with our latest adventures. . . our trip to Panama City Beach.
We were there from the 15th to the 23rd. My brother David and his girlfriend Vicki joined us from California and we are so glad they did. They, on the other hand, were probably ready to get back. My two kiddos can wear you out quickly-haha! This year we stayed at Sunrise Beach Resort. It was really nice and we managed to all fit into our 2 1/2 room condo. We had almost perfect weather except for the extreme heat. We even saw a manatee! He pretty much cleared the ocean out. People were running for the shoreline at the first glance of the huge, dark, object moving through the ocean about 20 yards away!
During our stay this time, we had lots of fun eating at some yummy restaurants such as Sharkeys, Shuckums, and Calypso. We also had a group of our friends down staying the same condo which added a extra touch of excitement for my girls. The girls had an exciting experience of "cwab" hunting at night one night. And, I think we caught the grandaddy of all sand crabs! He was huge! I didn't have my camera with me that night, so I missed out on capturing those images. I was very sad to see the trip come to an end. It always goes by so darn fast. We created such wonderful memories that will stay with us for a lifetime. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful family!

PreSchool Graduation. . Hooray!!

Ansley's big day arrived. . .she "graduated" from PreK--Class of 2023!

Yesterday was Ansley's Preschool Celebration. They aren't supposed to have graduation since its a Georgia PreK program, but they did have a great little presentation and ice cream party.

The most memorable part, was playing the graduation music while each child came and shook Mrs. Dawn's hand to receive their diploma. I didn't cry at all except the night before when I took a little trip down memory lane. It just seemed liked yesterday I held her in my arms for the first time while she smacked like a baby bird. I had no idea why she was doing it. "She's hungry" everyone said. "Well what do I do with her?" I asked. "Feed her!" they said. "How?" I asked. Its funny now to think back to that very first conversation I had with my family as a new mom holding my newborn, but I was so nervous five years ago. Today. . I am just filled with JOY! My big girl will be starting kindergarten in August at Shiloh Point and I am so proud of her. She has grown, matured, and learned so much this year.

She is a kind, sweet, and thoughtful spirit. She often thinks about others feelings because she doesn't want to hurt them.
She is a comedian. Her teacher says she loves to make others laugh.
She is very bright. She is like a little sponge and picks up knowledge so easily. She loves sharing new facts with me and I have learned SO much from her.
She is strong-willed. . .not sure this is a great character trait right now, but I can see this developing into a strong sense of independence in a few years.
She is artistic. She loves to paint, color and create.
She is very emotional. I have read that being super emotional is a sign of intelligence. Lets pray this holds true and transforms into some awesome college scholarships one day!
She is loving. She loves all people and animals. Although she has never been overly affectionate(except to mommy and daddy), animals are drawn to her and she reaches out to them. Just ask Ariel. . our new bird friend. Its a neat side of her we don't often see. Let's not forget that she loves, loves, loves her sister!
She is outgoing. She loves her friends and is always ready to go play!
She is a girly-girl. Give her pink anything, jeweled and sparkled everything and you have one happy little child!
She is my angel and I love her more that she will ever know!

Here are a few pictures. I had an awful spot in the room and couldn't get many good pictures. The classroom is tiny with all those people and the camera kept focusing in on the other people's heads. ( I have since learned to use the manual setting for times like this :-)). The 7 minute video is awesome, but I have to figure out how to upload it. Once I get that done, I will post it. Its so good and you can see her entire graduation. The rest are from her ice cream celebration that followed her party.

Soccer Party

Ansley's 1st Soccer season is coming to a close. I know she had fun even when she didn't act like it. This past Tuesday, was her soccer party. She was one proud gal when she got her trophy! We are so proud of her!

Her team and coaches (minus a few kiddos). It was unseasonably cold and windy. Look at some of their faces, can you tell?

Her last game is on Saturday! Hopefully she will give it her all. Pictures to come!

I can't believe my baby will be starting kindergarten in a few months. We had a Meet and Greet at her school on Tuesday night and she was so excited to know so many kids. Mommy is the "fish out of water." But God knew that working through my kids is the most effective way to talk to me so I would listen. And, I am so glad He led me to make the decision that we made.

By the way. . . she will be Class of 2025 :-)

What a great Mother's Day this year! It started off on Friday when both my girls made me a special gift at school, which I will always treasure.Kylie painted me a special box and made a card. Ansley painted a flower pot that holds a flower pen and decorated a personalized card. Both made my afternoon,.

Yesterday, Ansley and her daddy went shopping at the mall to pick out my gift. First, she brought me home a beautiful basket of flowers in which she said, "Mommy, I am going to go put it on your table by your bed so you can seem them first thing in the morning when you wake up. "--so sweet!
This morning, the girls gave me a very pretty bracelet and a special hat. Ansley picked them both out herself and although I laughed hysterically about the hat, I love it because it came from her. (You can see part of it in the picture above.)
We also went out for a yummy lunch at Buca de Beppo. For all of you that live out of town, this is a yummy Italian restaurant that serves family size portions. I was a little nervous taking the girls since they can get a little out of hand at times, but they were amazing! The server brought them pizza dough to play with and this occupied them the whole time. I was so proud of them for being such big girls at lunch today. By the way, Chris was making me feel bad about not wearing the hat. So I did. . . in the car to and from the restaurant.Ansley smiled and said I looked like a cowgirl. Blossom hat, golf hat , beach hat, cowgirl hat. . .. . whatever. . .it came from her and that is all that matters.

Kylie and I on the otherhand spent time together yesterday afternoon for a while, while Daddy and Sissy went shopping. That was her portion of her Mother's Day gift to me and I couldn't have asked for anything better from her. We went and petted the puppies at a pet adoption in front of Petco. She loved giving them treats! Then we went to Brain Freeze for some frozen yogurt .She was so funny and very specific about the toppings she wanted. You can tell she has been there a time of two-haha! Her $1.95 yogurt was certainly enjoyed! Next, off to Kohls we went to buy some new pillows for the sofa. However, I do need to mention, she is quite the shopper. She constantly browsed and threw things into the cart. She even insisted on pushing it around those narrow isles. She came to a corner and tried to turn it but ran it into the shelf and said, "Crap!" I cracked up!! It sounded more like "cwap" but it was too funny. I had never heard her say that before and it was hysterical. I love spending time with her. She is such a good, happy, little girl and always enjoys every minute we are together. Its not often she gets one-on-one time with just mommy. I need to start making it a priority to do it with her more often.

Finally, I wouldn't be the person I am today if it weren't for my own mom. She always worked hard, loved lots, and sacrificed a lot for us growing up. Thanks mom for everything! She even made me a special Mother's Day bracelet that I will always cherish. Happy Mother's Day to you Mom! I hope you have enjoyed your day!

Watch out Sharks. . here we come! Here's to a new beginning. . .its a little bittersweet, but I am super excited too. I will be changing schools next year. More so, Ansley will be a Shiloh Point Shark next year. Details to come! Keep checking in!

Easter 2011

Our morning started with surprises from the Easter Bunny. However, this year he was being a little silly. He moved the girls baskets from in front of their doors to a table downstairs. I think he likes to keep them guessing where their surprises will be. Here is a peek at what they got and how excited they were!

After an exciting morning, we headed off to church. We go to Perimeter Church and so did alot of other people this morning! We had to ask for help finding 3 seats. We decided to let Ansley try the "grownups" church today to see how she did.We finally got seated on the 5th row! Perimeter is a huge church so this felt like we had front row seats. Wow. . . what a service with such great music and meaningful message. Ansley did amazing at the service and never talked once.
Here are some sweet pictures of the girls in the Easter dresses. Unfortunately, with the busyness of the morning, we couldn't get a family picture and then Chris changed out of his clothes right away once we got home. :-( Maybe next year.
By the way. . .my first attempt at cooking a ham wasn't that great. I overcooked it by 2 hours. I wasn't sure how long to cook it. At least, it wasn't too hard and still tasted okay. Our sides of loaded mashed potatoes, fresh green beans, and creamed corn tasted delicious.

Then off to hunt a few eggs and watch a movie that the Easter Bunny brought and relax outside on this absolutely BEAUTIFUL Easter Day.

Big Girl Bed At Last

Well, I finally did it. . . I took down Kylie's crib and converted it to a full bed! The urge has been creeping on for several months now. She can scale down the sides of her crib in two seconds flat. So its really pointless to even keep her in a crib anymore. I started with taking off the bumper a few weeks ago. But after several interrupted nights of sleep in a row, I was tired and needed it to stop. I am always too tired to stop the meltdowns at 3am when I try to carry her back to her room, so I end up putting her in our bed. She is an active little sleeper and pillow hog! That stinker also snores. So needless to say, I have been waking up more tired than usual here lately and its no fun.

I decided that maybe I can keep her in her bed by making her excited about a new bed. Well, I hope it works! She hasn't officially slept through the night yet, but I am hoping by letting her and her sissy have a "sleepover", she might decide she likes her bed after all.

Off to Target I went this afternoon to pick up a quilt we have had our eyes on for a few months. It matches Ansley except hers is "puwpul". We still need a dust ruffle, new sheets, and some new decorations but we will get those things eventually. Here is a picture I took this afternoon. Can you tell they had been jumping on the bed??

We love Dying Easter Eggs

The girls waited patiently ALL day to dye our real eggs. The love hunting the plastic eggs with candy but always enjoy making thier own. After an attempt to use a fancy dye packet from the store, we all quickly decided it wasn't a good idea and threw it all away. Willow Brook's Easter Egg Hunt!

Today, I was just a mommy. I took off my teacher hat and spent the day with my girls.My family comes first and when my girls do something exciting or important, I take personal days. So that is what I did today. I was going to their Easter Egg Hunt at their school. Kylie's hunt was at 10:15 and Ansley's was at 12:15. However, I got behind the slowest driver on the road Friday AND a group a bike riders on Shiloh Road(which is a curvy, two lane road) and I wheeled into the parking lot at 10:17. . . ran full speed inside without locking my car, only to get to watch them have a class picture made holding their baskets of eggs. I totally MISSED the egg hunt. They were ahead of schedule and the kids hunted very fast. To say I was upset is an understatement. I felt like the worst mom in the world. I know the owners felt bad too. They were outside with the class taking pictures. They started suggesting that they let the kids hunt again, but decided to let Kylie hunt again with Ansley's class a little bit later. They were sweet about it and very apologetic. Still a little bummed, I managed to get some sweet pictures of Kyky and her friends and teachers.

On to Ansley's Egg Hunt. . . ( and yes, Kyky got to go too!) They were also very quick but had lots of fun! I don't think I managed to get any pictures of Ansley actually hunting. She was very focused and darted around the playground pretty quick. We just all wish the weather was a little more cooperative. It was a little bit dreary and cool outside. Needless to say, the eggs were all found and there were lots of happy kids!!

I am a project person. There is no doubt about it. Projects to me are like golf for my husband. Its just what I love to do when I have some spare time.

To give you a litte background on my projects, my husband has had a really OLD dresser in storage for a long time that he was getting ready to dump. But my project eyes, looked at it and found potential. I convinced him to bring it home rather than dump it. Once Spring Break started, I was off to Lowes to by spray paint and primer. Yes, you read that right spray paint. It is actually very easy to do if you have the technique right and looks so good when its finished. So I started by removing all the old 1970-80's hardwear, sanding everything down with my hand sander and then applying a couple of coats of spray primer. Once the primer dried, I carefully painted everything. I also bought new hardware for the drawers. I am still looking for 3 more little knobs for the top of the dresser. I couldn't find any that I liked when I went to the store. The mirrors above the dresser where $10.00 each from Home Depot. I thought that was quite a deal! Now with a new and much SMALLER 19 inch flat screen tv, my girls have a new room to relax and watch movies in. (That is a story in itself. My husband has a strange connection to the old projection tv we had in that room. It was HUGE and was literally an elephant in the room. When he went to work on Thursday, I rolled it right out the front door and into the garage. Sorry honey! It was falling apart and just too big for that room. )
We have managed to condense the toys to one box and shelf in the family room. All the rest went to thier rooms. Tada!! The finished product. . .

Project #2!
We have 2 bookcases on either side of our TV that were light oak. They looked fine for a while, but once we got a new TV and stand, they didn't seem to match as well. Here they are. . . primed and painted black. Huge difference! We love the new look! (On a side note, I have managed to lose a hinge, therefore one door on the cabinet is actually sitting on the floor. With a few decoration changes on the shelf, it will look better. But that will have to come with time.

Spring Break!

So how did we start our Spring Break. . . well we started the week by taking a mini trip to Alabama for a few days to visit Juju, PopPop, and Grandma. But while we were there I wanted to take the girls to do something fun other than shop. So we went to Nocalula Falls in Gadsden. This was a favorite spot of mine when I was little. I am so glad we went. It was beautiful and so much fun. But this time. . it was a lot more fun than what I remembered. We got to ride the train, visit a petting zoo, and see the falls! The girls loved it all! Their favorite part was the petting zoo.We saw all kinds of animals ( llamas, deer, goats. rams, snakes, rabbits, birds, peacocks, etc.) They We were all amazed at how a deer ran right up to us to be petted. it ran from across the field straight to us. Kylie wasn't real sure about it at first, but finally reached out and petted it. The llama loved to stare us right in the face.My girls know all about llamas thanks to Dora the Explorer-ha!

Looking ahead to future posts. . . .For those of you that know me, know that I inherited a "piddlin" gene from my dad and Daddy Jim. I am always painting something and fixing other things. Its what I love to do. I have taught myself how to install light fixtures, sink faucets, and paint all kinds of things using spray paint. Now that I have a few extra minutes on my hands, I am working on a new project. I am almost finished with it. I can tell you it is coming along better than I expected! Pictures to be posted soon!

Ansley's 1st Soccer Game

So the big day finally arrived! Ansley's 1st soccer game. I have to say she looked so cute.Yes, I know.. . its soccer not a fashion show-haha! I do have to mention that I had green ribbon to put into her hair, but it mysteriously went missing just before the game--hmhm. . . I wonder what happened to it?? Chris said he didn't touch it. Hmm, again.

But back to the game. Ansley wasn't nervous. at all. She was totally oblivious to the whole idea of a "real" game, which is a good thing. We played at Windermere Park for a 10am game. They rotate players in and out, so she got to watch from the sidelines for a little while.

Then she got her turn. . . she did a great job of staying in the game and running around, BUT we don't think she really understands the concept of the game--to actually get the ball from the other team and get it into the goal. But, it was her very first game and she will do much better this upcoming week. She even got to play goalie and stopped 3 balls in between twirling her hair and smiling at us. She loved playing goalie and can't wait to play it again next week.

On a funny note, I was taking so many pictures, Ansley actually would stop and pose for me in the middle of the game. So Chris told me to put my camera up because she thought she was in a photo shoot. What can I say? I am a proud soccer mama!

In the end they did lose. . . pretty doggone bad. But it was fun and that is what counts! Ansley earned two stickers for her uniform. One for playing a good game and one for being a good goalie! Yay Ansley--we love you!

Ansley is having to learn her address for school. She has our street name down but CANNOT memorize that 4 digit street number! At the dinner table tonight, I was teaching her a chant to remember it with. She was rolling with it for a few minutes and then got frustrated and gave up. She normally catches on to things very quickly but this was difficult for her and its frustrating to her.
A few minutes later I thought I would try it with her again. To my surprise, little sister (who had been sitting nearby), blares out the entire address AND correctly! What?? She is 2 1/2! Her daddy and I look at each other and crack up! Where did that come from? Her daddy then follows up and says: "Alpharetta(she repeats back : "Alphawetta") "Georgia" (she repeats back. . . "Bulldogs!" God love that baby. She automatically associates Georgia with Bulldogs! How funny is that?!

Sometimes because she is the baby, we think and treat her as if she is really younger than she is. When in fact, our little girl has quite the range of knowledge under that head full of hair!
We love our girls! And we are thankful to them for making our days and nights entertaining!

My Conscientious Child

It doesn't look like much of a post, but it was actually too sweet, NOT to share. While playing with me on Thursday, Kylie snapped my headband into two pieces. She said, " I sowy Mommy. I didn't mean to bake it."

Then she quietly got up and went into the kitchen. I could hear her getting something out of a drawer. She came back with a roll of tape. She then proceeded to tape my headband back together. How about that? Such a sweet, thoughtful little one. :-)

Circus Time!!

On Sunday, we took our girls to their very first circus. It was at the Gwinnett Arena this time. Aunt Juju went with us too which made it super fun! Upon arrival, the girls immediately became tense around all the noise and crowds, but after a few minutes they began to relax and enjoy the show. It was really good! Kylie will tell you she was most excited about the elephants( "efants") God love it----she was getting a bit tired and Juju ended up taking her out for just a minute and they both missed the elephant segment. We were so sad. Thankfully, Kylie won't remember and didn't seem to even know she missed it. She had already seen them several times parading around and helping in other acts. Ansley was most excited about the elephants, but ended up liking the "trampoline people" best. She was not at all happy about all the motorcycles in the caged ball. I think she was worried, just like the rest of us, that one wrong move and they would have a BIG wreck. It was pretty amazing! Thanks to Juju, both girls brought home fun souvenirs. Juju bought Kylie a stuffed lion and Ansley a sword. So sweet Juju! Thanks for always being so generous to your nieces. I think you have made them a bit rotten!

Ansley's 1st Soccer Practice

Well its official. . . I am now a new soccer mom! Ansley is playing soccer this season. Saturday was her first practice and she did great! Her attitude was so amazing to see. She never got upset, discourage, flustered, or even disappointed. She tried her best the ENTIRE time! I hope she continues to keep it up. Her coach's name is Mr. Matt and we practice at Windermere Park. I think her team name with be South Africa. Our friends, The Cole's have a little girl on the same team with Ansley. Terri and I were college roommates and its neat that we get to sit back and watch our girls play on the same soccer team. We are looking forward to a fun season!

Daddy Daughter Date Night

The girls and I went to Chik-fil-A not too long ago and received a postcard about an upcoming Daddy/Daughter Date Night. What a great idea! We loved it right away and Daddy was eager to take his girls out to dinner for a special date. But when he tried to make reservations, every Chik-Fil-A in Atlanta was booked. Looks like other Daddys thought it was a great idea too. We decided not to tell Ansley. She would be so upset. Chris just decided to take them the next weekend. They didn't know the difference and were SO excited. When I mean excited, Ansley talked about it ALL day long.

Chris came home from the dinner and told how Ansley and Kylie had a run in with some kids in the play area-ha! The other kids were being mean to them and not letting them come down the slide. They came out of the play area super upset. At least they were together. I have seen in many times in action, my girls WILL take up for each other for sure. I just hope they always do!

So Daddy/Daughter Date night was definitely a hit and now to be a tradition for just Daddy and his girls. I just hope that when they become teenagers, they will still think their Dad is the coolest and put all other plans aside to be with him for their special date.

Snow. . . . again. . . .

As we are all desperately wishing for Spring to get here soon and ready to be finished with this cold, cold, winter weather. . .what do we wake up to find yet again. . .another morning with snow on the ground. This time there was only about an inch. But the most fascinating part. . we actually went to school! Can you believe it??? Snow on the ground in Georgia and we actually went to school! Yes. . ladies and gentlemen that is a first. So here is our picture to document the momentous occasion. However, the girls were not impressed to be standing in the snow. They are done with all the white stuff too! But they were troopers and did if for their camera crazy mom. Thanks girls!!

Just for Fun: Starring Ansley as a Fashionista

I finally got a new camera and I love it!! However, I am still learning to use it, so I play with it alot. Well today I tried out the sport mode, which means it will take pictures really fast.

Here's how it happened. . Ansley comes downstairs wearing a set of heels and her nightgown topped off with a crown eating a popcicle. So from that I got the idea for her to pretend she is Barbie from Barbie Fashion Fairytale ( a favorite movie of hers) and I will take pictures in fast mode. And this is what she did! I hope it makes you laugh. We certainly did. It was all in silly fun. Please forgive the music on the slideshow. I didn't have many options.

Fun in the Jumpy House

Last year for Kylie's 2nd birthday, we bought her a Jumpy House. We weren't ready to make a swingset investment, so we thought this would be a good outdoor toy for the kids to enjoy. Let me just tell you, it has been the best investment. We put it in the front yard and in minutes all the kids on the street are at our house to play in it. They have so much fun together. And, its brought all of my neighbors closer together. We hang out and talk for hours and that is something we haven't done very often until now. Here are some pics of the kids playing one day back in January. Can you tell how much fun they are having??

Oh boy, were we ever blessed with an amazing Christmas season at the Stinson House. I am so thankful for all the fun times we have shared this season. Of course, we are truly blessed by wonderful families who love us so much. I thank God everyday for ALL he has blessed us witht this year.

We love Halloween! And, this year was the best yet. Both my girls were super excited about parties and trick or treating. They loved their costume and couldn't wait to put them on.

The weekend before Halloween, we had our annual neighborhood Halloween party. Its amazing to see how many kids are in our neighborhood now ! We have so many and most are between the ages of 1 and 6, which makes us very happy. Although its not as often as we would like, we love being able to get the kids together to play.

On a recent trip to my parents house, I found all my old beauty pageant dresses and majorette uniforms(yes, I was. . .please refrain from any comments-ha!) I actually won my first pageant in the burgandy dress. Here are my girls playing dress up in a couple of the outfits.

I LOVE family projects!

Okay, I am a bit of a weirdo, but I love family projects. Simply stated. . .I am a project person. I love to paint, decorate, create etc. So if you send home an assignment sheet for a family project, I am all over it. Here is a picture of Kylie's recent family project. Its a picture of her family tree.

Sadly, after we the project was sent home, I decided to laminate it for safe keeping in the years to come. But, there was a mishap in the laminating machine at school. Someone didn't clip the film after finishing, so that means it got all jammed up with my priceless project inside! You could hear my shrieks of anger from two doors down. I was very upset. Fortunately, the secretary at my school helped me salvage it. It is a bit wrinkled now, but still intact. Here is a picture of it before the "mishap"!

Okay, Okay, I grew up an Auburn fan. . . but please forgive me. . . . I married into GA. Gosh, what happened. . . I dunno, and I am speechless for a moment. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . BUT here are my sweet girls sporting their new Bulldog attire. Its so funny, they see football on TV and start chanting Georgia Bulldogs. . . bulldogs! They LOVE dressing in their cheerleading outfits "like Daddy". Here are some pictures.

Its so funny. These days, you ask them to pose for a picture and they automatically start hugging each other. Do you think I might have asked them to take a few pictures along the way???

Labor Day at Wills Park

Fall fever is in the air. It certainly doesn't feel like Fall yet, but we are really, really ready for Fall to be in full swing. Last weekend, Labor Day weekend, was picture perfect. The weather was absolutely amazing outside. We love being outside more than any other place, so we always try to take the girls to the park on Labor Day and this year was no different. We decided to go to Wills Park this year. We had a great time. Ansley actually played on the "Monkey Bars" this year and Kylie went down the big girls slide all by herself. Both were new and exciting for the girls. We packed a picnic lunch and had Aunt Juju in town. My girls were SO happy!! Here are some pics from our fun trip to the park.

The Simple Moments in Life

What a beautiful day God blessed us with today! The weather was perfect!
Late tonight we were playing in the backyard when suddenly Kylie sat down to play with something. She had found an injured butterfly in the grass. I watched as my girls took to the little injured butterfly. . . taking turns holding it and petting it and assuring it that it was going to be okay. It really took hold of Ansley and wouldn't let go of her little finger. She even said later, "Mommy, she really likes me. She doesn't want get off of my finger." Even Kylie sat perfectly still as it fluttered across her tiny little hand. She laughed hysterically as its little wings ticked her palm.

Finally, we decided to bring it in and put it into a bowl. Ansley wanted to give it some water. She said butterflies like water. She also said that we need to feed it something to eat. So we all went to the fridge looking for something to feed a butterfly(it was quite funny). "Chocolate milk. . . no butterflies don't drink chocolate milk--that's silly! . . . .cheese, no! Yogurt. . no! Maybe broccoli because butterflies like 'begtables' " Finally, we settled on pieces of bananas. We all sat in the floor and watched the little butterfly take to the banana pieces.
When I put Ansley to bed tonight she said, "Mommy, the butterfly has gone to sleep standing on the banana."

Good night sweet butterfly. The sweet, simple moments you brought my girls today will forever be remembered.

Back To School!

Well, the school bell officially rang for the Stinson girls on Tuesday, August 3rd. Ansley and Kylie started back to school at Carrington Academy. Ansley is in the Georgia PreK program and Kylie is in the 2's class with Mrs. Sheila. They both love their new classes!

However, in the past few weeks I have had some disappointments that have set off a series of events that are leading to some change. The issue was that last Monday, Ansley brought home a newsletter stating it would be mandatory that ALL PreK children will be required to wear uniforms starting September 1st. Ansley would have to wear a uniform everyday. This really upset me because Georgia PreK students do not have to wear uniforms for eligibility in a program. However, Carrington decided to make it mandatory, AFTER the school year started. We felt like it was a very undermined action. Its also very sad to me. She is 4! What benefits do 4 year olds have for wearing uniforms. Their little personalities are hidden underneath a brand. Even more, Kylie would have to wear them next year at 3. I know it sounds so ridiculous and superficial as I sit here rereading what I typed. There are other small issues I have been dealing with throughout our experience there, but have always wanted to leave my girls because we LOVE their teachers so much and knew they were loved and taken care of. There is just something more to this than the uniforms. It is the uniforms, but its not. I just can't put the feelings into words.

But after MUCH praying, God has sent me peace that it is time for a change. No one has ever said change is easy and this will not be an exception. Ansley will begin a new GA PreK program this upcoming week at Willow Brook Academy. To find an open GA state funded PreK spot after the school year is underway is almost unheard of! One child moved out of state during the summer, which left the spot open. I took this as one of my most prominent signs that the move was God's workings. Kylie will join her there in about a month since I had to give a 30 day notice. I was very impressed with their facility and they have the same programs and features that Carrington does, without all the extra expense. Their prices are more in line with what the state recommends charging families. Ans is excited and ready to begin. I think she is most excited that she will get to eat lunch in a lunchroom(which is an area in the center of the preschool with tables).
Children are very resiliant and they will be fine. I feel this is part of God's plan for our lives right now and its not our job to ask why. We just are obedient and good things will come. I am very sad about leaving Carrington since I worked there for months and have close relationships with many people that work there. Please keep my girls in your prayers over the next month as they begin this new experience in their young lives.

Partying with Friends

Today Ansley finally got to celebrate her birthday with her closest friends. We decided to keep it small and simple. We even had it on a weekday, so it wouldn't take anyone's time on the weekend. You would think because she has a summer birthday it would be easy to have a party outside. But its really not. Its so stinking hot right now that no one really wants to even be outside. So, we decided to have an Ice Cream Sundae party. It turned out great! It was so hot that the kids really didn't even want to jump in our jumpy house, but loved the ice cream! Ansley was so happy to have her friends over. Thank you to all our sweet friends who came!

But, Shew-wee. . . I am tired of birthday parties. We have been partying since Kylie's birthday at the end of May until today! I love organizing them, but I am actually tired now. We couldn't help the timing of things this year, but next year I am hoping for ONE big party. . .maybe for both girls in one--we'll see! :-)

All the girlies! It was SO hard to get them still and smiling. I have no idea what Ansley is doing here. Its the best one of the ones I made-ha!

Here is a picture of the party favor I made. I was so pleased in how they came out. It was a last minute brainstorm. I found these cute sundae dishes at CVS for a great price. Then,I wrapped candy inside of tissue paper, taped on a red pompom, wrapped in a treat bag, and there you have it--an ice cream sundae to go! And the best part is that the dishes can be reused instead of being tossed aside. I know my girls love having their own special dishes.

Happy 4th of July! Thank God for the freedom we have as Americans every day! We are all very blessed to live in the county despite the mess the media is always projecting!

We loaded the girls up and went to Alabama like we do each year for the 4th! We love swimming in a private pool! My girls were in heaven not having to worry about anybody else. It seems this summer its been accomplishment after accomplishment for these girls in the water. My cousin Lisa and her kiddos were there. It was so nice to see them. We only see them once a year, but I wish it was more often

Here it is. . . she has been asking for a Barbie Jeep for a long time now. So my Mom and Dad went in with us and bought this as her gift. Enjoy girls, but Ansley drive safely. . . no texting while driving-ha! Our cul-de-sac is the perfect place for her to drive around and they have had so much fun so far. You can hear them pretending to actually be out driving and doing things. Its so cute!

The birthday girl!!

Ansley's 4th birthday finally arrived! She started the day by wanting to go to Dutch Monkey for donuts! She loves this place and would go every morning if I would let her. Then, Uncle Shawn and her Daddy took her to the movies to watch Toy Story 3. When she got back home, we all surprised her with a Little Mermaid Birthday Party. She loved it all! My side of the family missed it, but shared another special day with her in July.

4 years ago today, I was being induced with my first little one. I was SO excited and so nervous at the same time. I had no idea what to expect, nor did I have any idea at how much our lives were about to change. At 5:10 pm, Dr. Graham delivered a healthy 6 pound 8 ounce beautiful baby girl which we knew right away was our Ansley Katherine. It was truly love at first sight.
4 years later, I am amazed at my big girl. When you first meet Ansley, she is smiling. . . that is who she is. She smiles all the time. She is happy and excited about life. She is SO smart! And I am not saying that because she is my child. She really thrives on learning new things. She is artistic, creative, independent, very strong-willed, and stands up for what she believes. She doesn't back down to anyone. However, She is definitely more reserved at first with anyone and with any experience, but within minutes is happy and smiling! She loves dancing, reading, doing art projects, playing games on PBSkids.org, dressing herself, swimming, and helping mommy cook. At her 4 year old checkup. . she weighed 38 pounds and is 40 inches tall. She passed her vision and hearing test(yay), but got 4 shots =-(!
She starts PreK in August and I am already sad! Where have these 4 years gone?? It seems I was just holding my newborn baby in my arms! I love you Ansley!!

Today, we decided to do something different for a change, we went down to the opposite end of PCB to visit with our friends Pati and Chas and their girls. They were staying near St. Andrews State Park. Our girls LOVE playing with each other and this day was no different. They had so much fun! Chris and I also enjoyed getting to spend time with good friends! Thanks Pati and Chas and both of your families for letting us visit for a while. We had a great time!

After our fun day with friends, we headed back to the condo for dinner in with our family. It was again yummy! My mom and dad made ribs and lots of good sides! We enjoyed every bite, as always. Thanks for making another delicious meal for us!

Its been years since we have been to Panama City, and we had heard it has changed quite a bit. And, yes it has changed alot. Old and new seem to mix together. And on our end at least, lots more families than what I remember in the past.
So. . . when it came time to reserve a condo, it was a little overwhelming. But, thanks to a good recommendation and reading LOTS of reviews, we ended up at beautiful Aqua. It totally felt like its own resort right on the beach. It was very nice and had tons of families staying there. It had 2 pools, and indoor pool, an hot tub, and a snack bar right next to the pool. Aqua was 2 condos down from the popular Pier Park area and was within a small driving distance/walking distance to lots of stores and restaurants. So it was a GREAT location!!

We stayed REALLY high. . . the 17th floor. It was very scary when you have an active 2 year old along!

Day #4 in PCB

Okay, so on day #4, I didn't take that many pictures. This one was it and it was taken by Mom. We had another fabulous day on beach and at the pool! Later that night, we went to Montego Bay for dinner. It was yummy and was a LOT of food! Afterwards, we just relaxed for the rest of the night! Sorry. . . nothing too exciting on day #4.

Panama City Beach #3

Another beautiful, perfect day at the beach! We all enjoyed the sun, waves, and water again this morning! The girls again loved playing in the ocean despite the green icky mess in the water. No, it wasn't oil again today, but just some algae washing ashore. It didn't seem to bother them at all!

Kylie is still calling the sand, "Snow". Its too funny! Today, Ansley taught mommy the right way to build a sand castle, insisting I add water to make the castle to the sand mold to make it better. She is such a big girl these days. She also let us bury her little body in the sand-too cute!

Kylie had a huge meltdown, so we all moved to the pool. Those girls amaze me each day. Kylie continued to count, "1, 2, 3,(clap, clap) and jump into the water fearlessly--somtimes even if you weren't there to catch her. Ansley, made a huge accomplishment!! She went from sliding off the ledge, to jumping holding both my hands, to jumping off holding only one of my hands, to jumping in holding neither of my hands-yay Ans! I am so proud of her. She was so proud too. Her happy face was priceless!

We had a sudden moment a glimpse of the future, as we saw a group of about 5 hazmat members walking down the beach looking at the conditions. Fortunately, they didn't seem at all alarmed by anything they saw and continued to walk-yay! No oil here again today! Thank you God!

Tonight, we had steaks that my dad and Chris grilled at the condo. Aunt Juju took the girls swimming at the pool. We don't often take them down to the pool at night, but it was a lot of fun this time without all the crowds. The girls got to show off their newly acquired skills while I snapped tons of pictures.

After dinner, we took the girls to ride the rides at Pier Park. Pier Park has taken the some of the rides from the old Miracle Strip Park and fixed them up again. The girls LOVED riding the carousel, the airplanes, and the balloons. I was surprised how brave Ansley was! However, Kylie and Daddy got stuck riding the balloons backwards and neither of them looked very good when they got off-ha! After that, Daddy took Ansley to play a gigantic pinball game and she won! She chose a toy Dora as her prize. Just as soon as she got it in her hands, Kylie went nuts. She wanted one too, so we ended up "paying off" the pinball guy with an extra dollar so she could "win" a Dora too! These girls!

After a second trip to Dippin Dots, it was time to call it a night. We had a long, fun day, but it will be one we will remember for a long time!

Here are the pictures of the girls and Juju in the pool late on Monday afternoon while the Daddys were grilling. I was the person behind the camera trying to catch these moments. Thank goodness for a quick camera! My girls amazing made lots of new accomplishments in the pool this week. Kylie jumps in by herself even if you are not there to catch her. Its kind of a scary thought! Ansley has started jumping in by herself. . .going from holding on to you with 2 hands, then with 1 hand, no hands! She has also started going underwater by herself, and putting her face and nose in the water and swimming by herself. She is definitely a little more cautious than Kylie, so these were BIG deals for her! Thanks Juju for being a good sport. Your face is priceless in these pictures-ha!

We enjoyed another beautiful and oil-free day at the beach! My girls were both SO brave this year and ventured a long way out into the ocean. They loved playing in it, even despite some icky seaweed floating around in the water. They would toss it aside and keep swimming. What a difference from last year!! Kylie is fearless but Ansley definitely has come to love splashing in the waves! She even remembers how scared she was last year. One year ago, she wouldn't touch the water w/out panicing. She was so afraid the boats in the water were going to hit her daddy. Now, she doesn't even seem to notice anything else in the water. Kylie didn't seem to mind the splashing salt water. It would catch her breath, she would rub her eyes, sputter the water out, and keep on going! The ocean has been more fun this year than before!

We played in the pool for most of the afternoon. The girls are really enjoying the pool too! We have a small little ledge that borders our pool that the girls love jumping off of and into the water. Kylie is too funny. She is 2 and let me reiterate again, totally fearless. She counts, "1, 2, 3, (3 claps) and then jumps. Ansley has started going underwater and holding her breath. Yay Ansley. This is something new for her and we are so proud and so is she! That is a scary thing to do. I remember how scared I was the first time I went underwater by myself.

And then it was naptime! The girls slept so hard after a fun filled day.

Our friends, Pati and Chas and their girls , and Brannon and Becky and their daughter Elliot are all down here right now so we went and had dinner at Hammerhead Freds. The girls were so cute! They all got thier own booth at the restaurant and loved it! As we all enjoyed the company! Although, I am not real sure the waiter loved our crew and our noise-ha! It was still fun!

We ended the night with Dippin Dots-yum! Both my girls made a "happy bowl" and enjoyed every bite!We are loving this trip!

Finally, vacation time is here! We have been looking forward to this week for quite some time now. We started our week by driving down to Dothan and spending the night there on Friday. We ate breakfast and drove the rest of the way down on Saturday. It was much easier breaking it into 2 segments than it would have been to drive the whole way in one day. We got here about lunchtime. The first thing we did was go and have lunch at Sharky's. It was so yummy and relaxing to eat outside on the beachside deck.

We arrived at our condo and couldn't check in right away so went walked through and ventured down to the beach. Let me just tell you how BEAUTIFUL the ocean waters in Panama City still are. There has been so much talk about oil, that we truly felt it was an answered prayer to walk out onto a white sandy beach with clear blue/aqua water washing ashore. We are staying at Aqua in Panama City and it is beautiful here. It feels like you are at a spalike resort. Its very family oriented and has a wonderful pool and hot tub. I will try to post pictures of it later this week. We are staying on the 17th floor and it is high! Everytime the girls get close to the railings, it takes my stomach, but the view is awesome! We haven't been to PCB in many years, but feel we made a great choice in lacations. We are so close to lots of good places.

My mom and dad, and sister got here about 5pm. We ordered in take out from Shukums! Can't wait for Day #2!

Gosh, you literally CANNOT turn your back on little Kylie for even a second. I love this baby, but she definitely does not give me a down moment.

Without giving all the details, we decided on Sunday during our visit to the ER that her nickname is "Trouble"! Hopefully this is a phase and will not follow her into teenagehood!!

Today, I had to vacuum my stairs since they are looking really bad. So I take a few minutes to get that done, just downstairs. Doing both floors would take too long. The kids are awake, that would be trouble.
So I come into the kitchen and this is what I see. . . that is flour. . . a whole bag of flour. . . EVERYWHERE!! Kylie had pulled the bag off the bottom shelf and decided to have a little sensory activity!!

This is the inital moment, after I grabbed my camera. . . notice her smile . . . she is trying to convince me not to get really mad!

Then her sister gets in on the action! They were pretending to be on the beach. . nice girls! I guess they were practicing up for our trip-ha!

Happy 2nd Birthday Kylie!!

Her big day finally arrived. . . Kylie's 2nd birthday!
It was 4:46pm 2 years ago that our lives were changed dramatically for the 2nd time. She started her urgency to come into this world before I even opened my eyes on Thursday, May 29th, 2008. I had only asked she wait until I finished work for the year before she made her arrival. . . and she did. She gave me a nights rest before she let me know it was time. Once I figured out that, yep, I am in labor. . .she progressed pretty quickly. . . we waited. . . at least as long as we could before we left for the hospital. We needed the 7-9 am rush hour to end for the morning! (If you live north of Atlanta, you know what I am talking about. We all have our fear of trying to make it down GA 400 to Northside Hospital during peak rush hour-yikes!) However the doctor was swamped that day and kept me waiting for a while--4 hours. (At least I had my epidural in place). She entered the world silent and gray. What a scary few minutes!! No one was telling me and Chris anything. As it turns out she came out sunny side up (which is the opposite of the way she was supposed to come out) and was cord shocked from having my cord wrapped not just once around her neck but twice!! She was a very active little thing in my belly apparently. That hasn't changed very much-ha! She is still a very active little one!
Chris and I couldn't agree on names this time. We went back and forth over so many of our favorites, but none seemed to be "the one". We thought we would look at her and know. Nope! It took us until the day we left the hospital to name her and after much praying, her name came to her daddy during the night. . . Kylie Elizabeth and it suits her perfectly.
We are so blessed to have her in our lives. Our lives have been enriched by her spontaneity, her wittiness, and her spunky and outgoing personality. She never meets a stranger and isn't afraid of anything. She always greets you with smile that will light up a room. How can you overlook that precious dimple and those chunky cheeks? Her eyes. . . from the moment I saw them, I knew they were amazing. . . .big and blue and are the window to her soul--lively and vibrant.
God blessed us with an amazing little soul: precious daughter and best friend for Ansley and I thank Him for her each and every day. Happy Birthday Kylie!! We love you more that you will ever know!!
The party was a ladybug themed party! We thought it suited her perfectly right now. We invited our families and thier BFF's "E" and "Fia" and
"Mama" (as Kylie sometimes calls her) better known as Mrs. Lyndsay! We ate cake and homemade ice cream that I made both from scratch! The cake looked cute, and tasted pretty bad. However, my strawberry homemade ice cream was delicious! I am glad we have some left over. We grilled our for dinner and had watermelon, which is a favorite of Kylies. However, she always pays for it the next day with an upset tummy! Poor baby! We had such a good, easy time just relaxing and playing in the back yard. We are truly blessed with a wonderful family and great friends. We are so grateful for each and everyone of you and so thankful you came. The day wouldn't have been the same without you. We love you!

Yes, I did make that cake! It turned out cute, had a good taste, but bad consistency! Next time I will stick with the cake mix from a box!

Slip and Slide Summer Fun!

We had a blast outside on our Slip and Slide last Saturday. The water was SO cold, but it didn't seem to bother the girls so much! I am very glad we have a fenced in backyard! It wasn't a pretty sight of me and Chris-ha!You won't be seeing us in any pictures! However we could get down it pretty fast, but the girls would get stuck and we would have to push them down. Ansley loved it, but Kylie did not! She would firmly tell you "No!" when you tried to push her down. Here are some cute pictures of Kylie and Ansley, more of Kylie. Dyeing Easter Eggs!

Whew, was this an experience! It was so much fun and will definitely be a tradition I will do with my girls every year! No one really ever uses real eggs for hunts anymore, but we certainly did and will for years to come--its just part of Easter! Our eggs were bright and beautiful and Ansley had a blast. Kylie wasn't so happy watching from a distance, but could you imagine the results of an extremely active 21 month old and Easter Egg dye-yikes! In the end, she was just as proud as big sissy about the eggs.
By the way, I really don't know why my girls look so dirty! I think it must be chocolate left over from their hunt. They do get baths every now and then (hehe)!

Well, everything is finally slowing down again and I finally have a little time to update some new and not so new pictures of the girls again.

The first set is our Easter pictures from April. The girls both had Easter Egg hunts at school. First, we went to get Kylie to join in on Ansley's class' hunt. As you can see they had fun. Ansley's poor dress wouldn't stay on-poor baby!But she didn't care! She was the first in line to get out the door and enjoyed every minute. Kylie doesn't realize she isn't as big as the other kids-ha! When it was her time to hunt eggs, all she and the other babies wanted to do was find and eat the candy from the eggs. . . they didn't have any interest in the "egg hunt" and she didn't have any interest in giving me any good Easter Egg hunt pictures. It was too funny!

Ansley and Abby have no choice but to be friends considering Terri and I have been friends now for 15 years! :-) Luckily, Ansley adores Abby! So hopefully, they will be good buddies for a long time too. Today was Abby's birthday and we celebrated with her at the Purple Hippo in Dunwoody. Its a great shop to go and be creative. They provide the art supplies and the kids create whatever they desire. Here are a few cute pictures from today. Ansley had a GREAT time! We will definitely have to go back soon!

Snow #2!

We had so much fun on Saturday playing in the snow. Ansley and I went back outside after lunch to play again and the snow had about halfway melted. She said, "Mommy, it makes me sad the snow is melting. " And it really did make me sad too. We had made such fun memories earlier in the day. Its memories like those on Saturday that we will always remember. It just all seemed to have come and gone so fast.

By the way, Kylie had more interest in what was going on across the street than in our yard. They were sledding down a hill. So, she walked right across the street and up to the sled. They put her on and off she went! She got up and said, "Again!" She is our little fearless daredevil. You will see on one of the videos on the right her being very mad at me and showing some serious attitude. I didn't catch the worst of it on camera(it was too funny!) but I kept having to go and get her to keep her from walking back over again.

Ansley was such a big girl and really helped Daddy build a snowman. She worked so hard rolling the snow across the yard. She, unlike her sister, wanted nothing to do with sledding down a hill! They are so different, but each so precious in their own sweet ways! Its so fun experiencing the differences. Its like having the best of both worlds. They are alot of work, but I thank God every day for my sweet, healthy, and happy girls!

But, now that the snow is all gone and its just cold and blustery again, we are over it and ready for SPRING!

Yay! Kylie finally got her first haircut at 19 months old!
She has so much thick hair and it is growing really fast now. But it had gotten so long and stringy. It was just time. I wanted to cut it into a bob, but I think we will wait until next time to see how it will grow now that it has been cut. She was such a good girl and sat very still. She wasn't scared at all. Sorry guys, this post is not about the kids. No pictures. . .
I just wanted to share something that I learned this morning from our wonderful pastor at Stonecreek Church. It was too good not to share. The series is called Consumed. I missed the first week but went this morning and came away hearing a message that I feel God sent just for me. Its a series about how everyone today seems to be so concerned and worrying about all the possession we have or want(clothes, car, house, etc. ) instead of giving in time and service to others.
In my family, starting with events early last year we have tried to shift our focus away from all that we want to buy and only focus on what we really need. I am very grateful that my ears and heart were open to this message this morning.
I came away from this message with not just one meaningful message, but TWO! How great is that! All of us worry from time to time, but if you know me. . . I worry alot! I obsess over things I should not be obsessing over. Gracious, Kylie had a stomach virus on Friday and man, did that send me into a worrying frenzy!! Anyway I won't fill the blog full of the entire passages, but wanted to share several verses that I felt were very inspirational.

Yay! Snow!

Well, we have SNOW! Even if it was a just dusting. . . ha! We were so excited to not have to go to school today!! It was a beautiful day of doing nothing except spending time together!

The girls couldn't wait to get outside in the backyard to play in the snow. Kylie stood by the door saying, "outside" over and over. Ansley tried to head out with her PJs on. She had no idea just how COLD it was outside. Chris and I had to work hard at redirecting her until a little later in the morning when the sun was actually shining.

This was Kylie's very first snow. I was pregnant with her the last time we had snow on the ground. She didn't seem over excited, just curious. She followed her big sissy around doing everything she did. She was a little reluctant to get down in it. They both just seemed to walk around, checking it all out. Chris was excited too. He made us some yummy snow cream! As Kylie says, it was "um, good!" However, there was no snowman this year! There wasn't enough on the ground. As one of my neighbors said in her facebook post this morning, we would have had to "borrow the snow from a neighbor" to get that task accomplished! :-)

Happy New Year. .. Welcome 2010! I am looking forward to what the new decade brings for my family! For the Stinson Family, 2009 was a year of filled with lots of ups and downs, blessings, new beginnings, new opportunites, second chances, and SO much more. From all of the experiences of 2009, I have grown as an individual, mom, sister, wife, and friend. Hopefully 2010 will be filled with much of the same.
By the way, I don't make New Year's Resolutions. However, one thing I hope to do different in 2010 is to be less stressed- Less stressed in general and certainly less stressed about all the things I cannot control. I feel that 2009 was a fast and frenzied year between balancing work, home, and 2 children under the age of 3 1/2-whew! My prayer for 2010 is that God will work through me to create a since of peace and clarity in my life.

On a different note, I actually had a few minutes to quickly read through Parents magazine yesterday. I came across an article that is called "The Daily Do". It is an article about daily challenges. I know, I know, my plate is "full" and running over the edge between work and my kiddos, but I thought the ideas were really cute. One of the ideas was from a mom who has taken pictures of her children every day of the year. Wouldn't we love to look back and see the faces of our children captured in pictures for a whole year?

Whether I can keep it up or not(I certainly can not promise to post everyday),but here is my 1st picture of 2010!

Christmas At The Stinson House

We had such a great Christmas this year! Christmas brought back all the memories and traditions Chris and I enjoyed as children and it was so much fun doing them all again with our girls. Ansley is at the age where she now understands who Santa is, what Santa does, and how magical he is. She was so excited about him coming to our house! Our cable had a Santa Tracker network that we tuned into every night. It was such a neat channel. It told us all the happenings at the north pole and it always asked a question that Ansley had to answer to determine whether she goes on the naughty or nice list. Sadly, she would get so "stressed" when it came time to answer those questions. . . but it worked like a charm because she tried so hard to "be good". She also learned the true meaning of Christmas. We read a book almost every night that told the story of baby Jesus and how the wise men brought him gifts and that is why we give gifts to those we love.

On Christmas morning, both girls squealed with excitement when they saw the gifts Santa brought them. One thing Chris and I learned is that they really didn't care what was "Ansley's" or "Kylie's" toys. They were equally excited about both sets of toys. They shared them all. Santa should have just put all the toys together. Maybe next year he will remember this. I know it won't always be like that, but he needs to take advantage of it as long as it lasts.

My parents came to our house this year around lunchtime. We had lots of yummy snacks instead of a big lunch. This let us focus our attention on the girls and their gifts rather than cooking and it was so worth it. Uncle David was even here this year and we are so glad he was. The girls loved him! Santa visited Gamma and PopPop's house in Alabama too. And of course, Aunt JuJu spoiled them rotten with lots of Ariel and Elmo things! Uncle David even gave Ansley a real set of Ugg boots! I was so jealous. But isn't that what aunts, uncles, and grandparents are for??? The girls were so overwhelmed with all their fun things that days later, Ansley was still "finding" new things and bringing them out of her toy room to show me. Its funny, but what a blessing that is!

Chris and I are definitely blessed to have such wonderful families that love us. We are truly blessed with 2 little gifts from God, our girls. I couldn't imagine life without them.

I am sad for Christmas to be over, but am looking forward to 2010! Happy New Year to everyone!

Girls Day Out!

Yah! We finally have a bit of a vacation. Time to sleep in, relax, and play!
Well today, we ventured down to Lenox Mall for our first trip to Macy's Pink Pig! I wanted to go before the actual Christmas shopping season started. It is no fun at all waiting in long lines with a 3 1/2 year old and a 1 year old!
But before we could even get to the pig, we ran right into Santa! There was NO line at all. I couldn't believe it. We are not used to that, especially for Lenox Mall. We normally have to wait at least 2-3 hours. So here we go, I led a reluctant Ansley around to see him. She crawled onto his lap holding Honey tightly for security. Then, she became stoic! Not a sound, not a twitch, not a blink. Poor baby! There was no way she was going to share with him what she wanted for Christmas. Looks like Mommy and Daddy will have to be the messenger this year. Then Kylie joined her sister on Santa's lap and screamed with fright. Tears running down her cheeks. Finally, we got them settled in for a picture. However, there was no one smiling in this year's picture but Santa. Oh well, at least we can look back at the progression of each Christmas and how they reacted to Santa. These moments are priceless no matter how funny or sad they are. I will have to scan those pictures in. They were not taken with my camera.
Then it was time to ride the Pink Pig! Ansley and Kylie loved it! We rode it twice! Their eyes lit up as we went around and listened to the story and looked at all the decorations. Ansley has already said, " That was fun Mama! I want to go back to the Pink Pig!" It looks like we just started an annual tradition!

Pumpkin Carving with Daddy

Daddy has been excited all weekend about carving a pumpkin with Ansley. He went and bought a pumpkin and a carving kit with elaborate designs. Ansley got to choose the design she wanted to carve. Chris says it didn't turn out quite right, but who can tell? It looks great to me! This is the first year where we think she actually understands some of the concepts of Halloween. They worked outside for a long time. Ansley was a good little assistant. She even helped with the powdered sugar (btw-which were used to help find the tracing lines). She loved it so much, she started licking the leftover off the porch-yucky! Silly girl, she knows better. But the girl loves sweets!

Hopefully this will become a yearly tradition for them, because I think they had a great time. Here are some pictures.

Today was our neighborhood Halloween Party. Its a fun get together for all the little kiddos in the neighborhood-and Wow! There are so many of them now! Anyway, they bowled with pumpkins, carved pumpkins, had face painting and lots of other fun things for the little ones to do. They even had a costume contest with a parade! It was so cute.

Ansley is The Little Mermaid this year. She loved the costume from the Disney Store and there was NO putting it back on the rack. Her interest in princess things seems to be starting! It fits her so cute and let me just tell you, she was working it during the parade.

Kylie is a strawberry this year! It is the cutest costume I have ever seen! I knew immediately upon seeing it that it was a keeper. In fact, I picked it up and was afraid to put it back because someone else might take it. Sure enough a lady came in the store while we were there and was looking for it. Oops! Finders Keepers! I am so glad I held on to it.

And. . . Kylie won the costume contest--complete with a trophy, candy, and a Toys R Us gift card ! Way to go Kylie!! Her costume was definitely unique. Ansley didn't quite understand that it wasn't her trophy, so shh. . . don't tell her. She could have won it too! She looked absolutely adorable in her costume!
